New Delhi, May 10: India and Pakistan have agreed to immediately stop all types of military operations (MOs) on the border, informed India’s Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri in a presser on Saturday.
Misri said that Pakistan’s DGMO called the Indian DGMO at 3:35 pm today and discussed the ceasefire between the two countries. During the talks, it was agreed that from 5 pm today, firing and military action will be completely stopped on land, sea and air – all three fronts. Both sides have also given instructions to their respective military officials to implement this agreement.
The Foreign Secretary said that the Director General of Military Operations (DGMO) of India and Pakistan will hold talks again on May 12 at 12 noon, so that the situation can be evaluated further. This agreement is being considered an important step towards regional peace.
It is noteworthy that before the statement of the Foreign Secretary, US President Donald Trump and Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar had also issued statements related to ceasefire. The US President had said that after the ongoing talks between India and Pakistan under the mediation of America, both the countries have agreed on a complete and immediate ceasefire. Trump said that this agreement was possible after a long night of talks.
