PM Modi holds a meeting with secretaries, stresses on coordination b/w ministries and various agencies

New Delhi, May 8: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday chaired a high-level meeting with secretaries of various ministries and departments of the Central Government to review national preparedness and inter-ministerial coordination in view of recent developments related to national security.

The Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) said in a statement that in the meeting, Prime Minister Modi emphasized the need for seamless coordination between ministries and various agencies to maintain operational continuity and institutional resilience.

Prime Minister reviewed the planning and preparation done by the ministries to deal with the current situation. Secretaries have been instructed to comprehensively review the operations of their respective ministries and ensure full-safe operation of essential systems, with special focus on readiness, emergency response and internal communication protocols.

The secretaries detailed their plan with a holistic government approach to the current situation. All ministries have identified their action capabilities regarding the conflict and are strengthening the processes. The ministries are prepared to deal with all kinds of emerging situations. A number of issues were discussed during the meeting. These included, among others, strengthening of civil security mechanisms, efforts to counter misinformation and fake news, and ensuring security of critical infrastructure. Ministries were also advised to maintain close coordination with state authorities and ground level institutions.

The meeting was attended by the Cabinet Secretary, senior officials of the Prime Minister’s Office and Secretaries of key ministries including Defence, Home, External Affairs, Information & Broadcasting, Power, Health and Telecom.

Prime Minister called for constant vigilance, institutional synergy and clear communication during the sensitive period in which the country is facing.

He reaffirmed the Government’s commitment to national security, operational preparedness and civil security.
