Two pastors held for allegedly converting people in Jaunpur

Jaunpur, 05 May: An alleged case of conversion in Christianity has surfaced on Sunday from Sujanganj police station area of Jaunpur district when locals gave a written complaint in Sujanganj police station and alleged that Khemchand son of Ramdular and Ramnarayan son of Khemchand, residents of village council Qutubpur, were forcibly forcing them to convert to Christianity by organizing conversion meetings run by Christian missionaries and luring us, telling dirty things about Hindu religion and telling that if I do not accept Christianity, my family members and I will fall ill.

Meanwhile, taking this matter seriously, the police took immediate action and reached the spot and arrested two people. Some Christian missionaries’ books have also been recovered from the spot.

In this regard, SHO Yuzvendra Kumar Singh said that as soon as the information about the conversion meeting was received, the Sujanganj police reached the spot and arrested two Christian priests present there. Bible books were also recovered from the spot.

SHO told that according to the application of the above applicant, action will be taken by registering a case against the accused.

On the other hand, as soon as the information about the conversion was received, Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) District President Dinesh Kumar Mishra and Block President Sheetla Prasad Mishra, who reached the spot, have demanded strict action against the accused.

Giving information in this case, circle officer (CO) Machhli Shahar Vivek Singh said that Arvind Kumar Gautam, son of Ramchandra Gautam, resident of Deepakpur, Police Station Sujanganj, gave a complaint that Khemchand son of Ramdular and Ramnarayan son of Khemchandra, residents of Gram Sabha Kuttupur, were calling us to their house and organizing a prayer meeting and were forcing us to convert our religion by offering money and various types of temptations. On the basis of the complaint, a case under the Illegal Religious Conversion Act 2025 vs Khemchand and Ramnarayan has been registered and both have been taken into police custody. Other legal proceedings are being carried out.
