Lucknow, 23 May: So far 49 people have died in various districts affected by storm and rain in Uttar Pradesh in the last two days ( May 21 and 22). Some of them died due to falling of trees, while some died due to being buried under fallen walls.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has given strict instructions that the concerned officers of the districts should take stock of the situation, assess the damage and send it to the government and immediately provide the permissible amount for the loss of life due to the disaster.
According to the information received from the Relief Commissioner’s Office, Lucknow, two people have died in Ghaziabad. Four people have died in Meerut, three in Bulandshahr, four in Auraiya, five in Kasganj, two in Firozabad, five in Fatehpur, two in Etawah, one in Aligarh.
Similarly, two deaths have occurred in Kanpur Dehat, one in Hathras, three in Gautam Buddha Nagar, one in Chitrakoot, one in Ambedkar Nagar, three in Kanpur Nagar, three in Kannauj, one each in Amethi, Ayodhya, Azamgarh, Unnao and three in Etah. In total, 49 people have died in the last two days.
Relief Commissioner Bhanu Chandra Goswami has directed the District Magistrates to arrange for relief money and make it available to the families of all the deceased within 24 hours.
