400 yrs old tradition of Bada Mangal festival begins in Lucknow, LMC pays special attention to cleanliness at Bhandara places

Lucknow, May 13: People of Lucknow eagerly await the month of Jyeshtha as the month is considered to be the most suitable for the worship of Lord Hanuman. Today, on the first Bade Mangal or Budhwa Mangal of Jyeshtha month, Hanuman Chalisa, Sunderkand Paath and devotional songs are being heard in every hook and corner of Lucknow.

‘Bhandaras’ (community meal) have organised at various places in the city to celebrate first Bade Mangal of Jyeshtha month. Various types of ‘Prasad’ (devotional food) like Puri Sabzi, Kadhi Rice and Bundi is being served among public in Bhandaras.

Meanwhile, huge crowd of devotees have been witnessed since morning to offer prayer in all the Hanuman temples of the city including Aliganj Hanuman Temple, Hanuman Setu and Hanuman Dham. The entire temple complex is echoing with the chants of Bajrang Bali. The temples have been decorated.

It is worth mentioning that the tradition of ‘Bhandara on Bada Mangal of Jyeshtha’ month in Lucknow is 400 years old. Now this event has taken a huge form. Now free meal kitchens are organized at every intersection, every street and every corner of Lucknow. This Bhandara organized in Lucknow has reached almost all the districts of Awadh region.

In view of the organization of Bada Mangal, the Municipal Corporation has made special preparations. According to the Municipal Corporation, registration has been done for Bhandara at 348 places. The team of the Municipal Corporation goes to the registration site and cleans it.

According to Municipal Commissioner Gaurav Kumar, you can register for the Bhandara by calling the Municipal Corporation’s control room number 1533 or through the Lucknow One app.

Special attention is being paid to cleanliness

Special attention is being paid to cleanliness in the Bhandaars held on Bade Mangal. For this, the team of Mangalmaan Abhiyan is constantly roaming around the cities and making the members of the organizing team aware to organize cleanliness and environment-friendly Bhandaars. Plastic bowls, plates and glasses are not being used in the Bhandaars held at most of the places. Dustbins have been arranged at all places.
