On Saturday, the bodies of a woman and two children were found in a room on the upper floor of the mosque in Gangnauli village, Baghpat. The three bodies belonged to the family of the mosque’s Maulana Ibrahim, who led prayers at the mosque and also ran a madrasa. The Maulana had gone out for some work, after which his family was murdered. The Baghpat Superintendent of Police solved the case within six hours.
Baghpat SP Suraj Kumar Rai stated that seven teams were formed to successfully uncover the incident. Within just six hours, two juvenile offenders were taken into custody. Based on their information, a hammer and a knife were recovered as murder weapons. A case has been registered at Doghat police station, and further legal action is underway. Two minors, who were studying in the same mosque where the
Maulana was teaching Muslim youth, were harboring dangerous intentions. During police interrogation, the minors revealed that the Maulana had tortured them, beating them, and making them work. The two students were seeking revenge for this.
This is the second such incident in Baghpat.
Previously, in August, a student had killed the Maulana’s son. In Tanda village of Chhaprauli, a teenage girl, upset by the beating at Darul Uloom Muzaffariya Lil Banat Madrasa, wrapped Maulvi Shahzad’s adopted son, Dalha (11 months), in a cloth and buried him under the quilt and other clothes on the bed. The child died of suffocation. The police arrested the accused teenage girl, a student of Maulana Mufti.
