Lucknow, October 12: Just hours after the gang rape incident on Saturday in the Banthra police station area of โโUttar Pradesh’s capital Lucknow, the police nabbed two accused. One accused was injured by a police bullet and has been admitted to the hospital for treatment. A police team is engaged in searching for the other accused, said police.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) Nipun Agarwal said on Sunday that a victim’s family living in the Banthra police station area has filed a case. In it, they said that their younger daughter was staying with her elder sister. On Saturday afternoon, she had gone to the market. On the way, she met her friend and while talking, she went towards the garden. During this time, Lalit, Meraj, Chhotu, Babu and Vishal, who live there, reached there. They beat up her friend and drove her away and gang-raped their teenage daughter.
DCP further apprised that the accused also threatened her not to tell anyone about the rape. After reaching home late in the evening, the victim girl narrated her ordeal to her family. The victim’s father filed a case against all of them in this regard. Taking action, the police arrested the accused Meraj and Lalit within a few hours. Lalit was caught in a police encounter and is injured by a bullet in the leg. Meanwhile, the police team is engaged in searching for the other accused who are absconding in the incident.
