10-year-old scrap collector attacked with acid in Kannauj

Kannauj, 28 January: Four youths fled after throwing acid on a 10-year-old boy who earns his living by collecting scraps on Wednesday in Gursahaiganj area of โ€‹โ€‹Kannauj district of Uttar Pradesh.

The boy’s face and body were badly burnt in the attack. The injured child has been admitted to the hospital. The police is searching for the attackers.

According to the police, Babu , 10-year-old son of Sonu Nat, a resident of Mohalla Gandhinagar of Gursahaiganj police station area, had gone to Mohalla Darasrai of Samdhan town with his friend Abhishek Nat to collect scrap at around 11 am on Wednesday. At the same time, four youths threw acid on Babu. The acid severely burned his face and body, causing him to collapse on the road. His companion, Abhishek, fled the scene in fear.

The Police informed that shortly afterward, Abhishek Nat returned, loaded the scorched Babu into a tempo, and took him to the Gursahaiganj police station. As news of the incident spread, a crowd of women and family members gathered at the police station. The injured Babu stated that he could identify his attackers if they presented themselves. Police have registered a case and are searching for the accused. Babu’s father stated that his son had gone to collect scrap when suddenly some people threw acid on him.

The Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Ajay Kumar stated that a case has been registered under Section 124 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) against unknown persons for the acid attack on Babu, son of Sonu Nat, a resident of Mohalla Gandhi Nagar in the Gursahaiganj police station area.
